FAQ
What is House Label?+
House Label is an all-in-one platform for independent musicians. It covers four pillars: Funding (grant discovery and application support), Royalties (registration and tracking across all collection societies), Press Relations (presskit generation and media outreach), and Marketing (brand strategy and digital visibility). Think of it as your virtual music label.
Who is it for?+
Independent musicians, composers, producers, and songwriters — especially those in Canada and the US navigating grants, royalties, and the business side of music. Whether you’re emerging or mid-career, House Label gives you the tools that signed artists get from their labels.
How does the Grant Finder work?+
The Grant Finder matches you with relevant funding opportunities from 100+ sources (CALQ, Canada Council, Musicaction, FACTOR, and more). It scores grants based on your profile — genre, location, career stage, disciplines, and citizenship — so the best matches surface first. Results include deadlines, amounts, and direct links to apply.
What are Royalties and how does the tracker work?+
As a musician, you’re owed royalties every time your music is played, streamed, or performed. House Label’s Royalties module identifies which collection societies you should register with (SOCAN, Re:Sound, SOPROQ, SoundExchange, etc.) based on your country, province, and roles. It tracks your registration status and guides you through each one.
Is my data secure?+
Yes. All data is stored in Supabase with row-level security — only you can access your own data. Files are stored in secure cloud storage. We do not sell or share your data. AI features use Anthropic’s Claude API, which does not use API data for model training (see anthropic.com/policies/commercial-terms).
What features are available now?+
Currently active: Grant Finder and Grant Redactor (with AI-assisted form filling), Royalty registration tracker, Presskit generator, Song and release catalog, Knowledge Hub with 100+ verified Q&As about the music industry, and a personalized Dashboard. Marketing and distribution tools are coming soon.
What types of grants are included?+
House Label includes a wide range of opportunities tailored for independent musicians at all career levels. Our database features production grants, creation and composition funding, touring support, artist residencies, awards and cash prizes, and exhibition or festival opportunities. We curate listings from organizations like CALQ, Canada Council, Musicaction, FACTOR, and many more — covering various genres, disciplines, and funding levels.
How often is the grants database updated?+
Our grants database is updated weekly. Every Monday, an automated crawl scans all grant sources, feeds new open calls into our listings, and flags any changes to existing opportunities (updated deadlines, amounts, or eligibility). You'll also see a notification on tracked grants when newer information is available.
How does the Grant Redactor and auto-fill work?+
The Grant Redactor uses a browser agent (powered by TinyFish) to navigate grant portals, extract every form field, and generate AI-powered answers based on your artist profile. You review and edit all answers before they're submitted — nothing is sent without your approval. It works in three steps: extract fields from the portal, generate answers with AI, then fill the form.
Is House Label free?+
House Label is currently in invite-only beta and free for all beta users. We'll announce pricing before any paid plans launch — beta users will be the first to know and may receive special perks.
How do I join?+
You can join the waitlist from our login page. Once we review your application, you'll receive an invite link by email to set up your account and get full access to the platform.
How do I delete my account?+
You can request account deletion by contacting us at hello@houselabel.io. Upon deletion, all your profile data, tracked grants, drafts, presskit content, and uploaded files will be permanently removed from our systems within 30 days.
Can I use House Label outside Canada and the US?+
Yes! While our grant database currently focuses on Canadian and US funding sources, the royalty tracker, presskit generator, and catalog tools work for artists anywhere. We're actively expanding our grant coverage to include more countries.
How do I contact support?+
You can reach us anytime at hello@houselabel.io. We're a small team and we read every message — expect a reply within 24-48 hours.
